Yesterday found out my thread painting and quilted fiber art has been juried into Mainstrassuse Village Oktoberfest on September 8th through the 10th. My vintage and repurposed glass art was also hurried in.
So today and yesterday have been busy getting everything ready. New LED lights were at the top pf the list. My new banner has been cut and attached to my tent. Then of course I am in the process of creating more art. I have seven new garden flowers and one quilted scene finished and one mostly finished.
This thread painting is similar to one I did for my sone and daughter-in-law. My husband saw it when we visited their new house and suggested that i make another one. Here are some other the process pictures. I started with a confetti background and couched dazzle dazzle thread. Next I cut out the birds out of fabric pieces, and finally I working on the thread painting. So far I have the heads done.
This is my newest confetti piece. I really like how it turned out. It sold at the Augusta Riverfest Regatta.
This is my booth setup at the Riverfest Regatta.
Here is my favorite little bird. I think the mint green background was perfect. (Bias since this is one of my favorite colors.} He sure looks cheerful.
Here are a few pictures of my newest confetti bird art quilts. I completed 18 last week. I will be selling them this weekend in Cincinnati.
Yesterday I dropped of my QAK Challenge quilt for the Food, Food, Glorious Food exhibit.
I wanted this quilt to represent the color and abundance of fresh produce. I chose to arrange the food in a color wheel, showcasing the richness of colors found in nature.
The quilt itself is whole cloth with appliqued fruits and vegetables. Each food was created by cutting out small bits of fabric and stitching them to a main shape. The basic shapes were placed on fabric and covered in tulle. I quilted around each shape to attach them. Finally, I added details with quilting and thread work.
I have finished my quilt for the QAK 2017 challenge. They will be exhibited at the Berea Arts Council in July. My quilt is entitled “De Colores” Here is a sneak peak of a couple of close ups.
